Freelance Copywriter

Words that move people.

I help purpose-driven brands find their voice — and their audience. Clear thinking, honest language, and copy that actually works.

About me

A writer who cares about the cause as much as the copy.

“The best copy doesn't feel like copy. It feels like a conversation you didn't want to end.”
Sally Harper, copywriter

I've been writing for charities and purpose-driven organisations for well over a decade — everything from direct mail campaigns, video scripts and annual reports to social content, speeches and fully integrated campaigns.

I've worked in-house, as a freelancer, and as part of a small creative team. Whatever the format, I bring the same thing: a genuine desire to understand your audience and say something that matters to them.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually at the nearest playground with my kids, attempting to 'get back into running', or feeding an unhealthy addiction to political podcasts.

Selected work

Copy that earns its keep.

Here's a sample of what I've been working on. Every project is different — but the brief is always the same: find the human truth and say it clearly.

National Cancer Charity
Direct mailFundraisingCharity

A direct mail appeal that beat its target by 34%

“This is one of the best first drafts we've ever received. You've clearly taken the time to understand us.”

The brief was simple: write a Christmas appeal that turned passive supporters into active donors. The challenge was standing out in an inbox full of seasonal asks. We led with a single, specific story rather than a sea of statistics — and it worked.

Global Aid Organisation

A supporter magazine relaunch that doubled open rates

“The feedback from supporters has been overwhelmingly positive. The new tone feels much more like 'us'.”

A long-standing supporter publication had lost its edge. The tone was worthy; the stories were buried. We stripped it back to what readers actually wanted: clear, honest updates with the occasional dash of unexpected joy.

Let's talk

Got a project in mind?

I'd love to hear about it. Whether you have a brief ready or just an idea forming, drop me a line and we'll figure it out from there.
